1. Summary
This
product bulletin announces the availability of tiered controller-based parts
for SnapManager for Microsoft® Office SharePoint Server (SMMOSS). The
introduction of these parts allows customers to purchase an “all you can eat”
SMMOSS license for a particular NetApp storage controller. This allows a
customer to protect any number of SharePoint content databases, as long as
they are stored on storage connected to that particular controller.

Product Information
SMMOSS
is licensed based in two ways: by the number of Microsoft SQL Servers™ being
protected and by an individual controller hosting any number of Microsoft SQL
Server content databases. The following table lists the new parts that
support the controller-based tiered pricing methodology. The parts labeled
with “-C” are configured systems parts.

Software Subscription Plans
Customers
should purchase an SSP contract for SMMOSS. This license entitles them to
NetApp customer support and also to future releases of SMMOSS. When using the controller-based pricing
methodology, SSP is handled as part of the overall software SSP
contract. Refer to existing Data
ONTAP® software SSP methodology documents for more information.

Product Availability
SMMOSS with tiered controller-based pricing will be
available in the December 2007 Quote Tool release.

Products need to be validated against the NetApp
Safety/EMI Regulatory Compliance List prior to order submission. The list is
available at PartnerCenter
Compliance Information. This is required to ensure that products are
being sold only in the countries in which NetApp has received regulatory
compliance certification.
